Very close to Medieval village of San Miniato, on the hills that lead to Siena, is situated Croco & Smilace Company. The owners are two saffron lovers who have decided to preserve the ancient culture of saffron.
Saffron is a very special and rare product since the harvest is hand-made and the quantity is limited. Croco & Smilace respects the tradition and uses artisanal methods working saffron.
This name sounds somewhat gothic, but don’t be fooled: it’s a marmalade with a distinctive, delicate taste, thanks to the fragrance of abbot pears enriched with saffron stigmas and a bit of grappa. Organically grown fruit, 25% sugar, it can accompany cheese, desserts and it is suitable for pasta fillings.
